Marcos Egipciaco founded Sovereign in 2008 after more than a decade in the Florida real estate industry and is the Managing Partner of the firm. Marcos and the Sovereign team have been involved in the selling or acquisition of over $1.5 Billion in real estate to date, principally in the Florida markets with experience nationally as well, including over 6,000 residential transactions and greater than $300 million of closed commercial deals with a current commercial pipeline of $150 million. He has an unprecedented expertise to match the firm's clients with opportunities from his extensive network, which provides access to the entire landscape of potential transaction types across all real asset market cycles. Marcos has successfully partnered with banks, pension funds, public REITs, private equity groups, hedge funds, high net worth individuals, family offices, national homebuilders, and foreclosure & bankruptcy attorneys in brokerage, advisory and principal deals. Sovereign continues to grow rapidly as a vertically integrated, one-stop-shop providing real estate brokerage, advisory, commercial & residential development, construction management, property management, title, and lending services to institutional and retail investors.
Sovereign has been selected over time as the lead acquisition and disposition partner for a number of the top public REITs, private equity firms and other institutional leaders in the U.S. Single Family Residential sector. To date, the Company has served multi-billion clients such as FirstKey Homes (a Cerberus-affiliate), Colony Starwood Homes, Colony American Homes, Progress Residential, National Home Rentals, and Transcendent / BuildUSBack Companies. Sovereign is targeting the entire state of Florida for FirstKey today. The Company has executed strongly on the full spectrum represented by these various strategic initiatives and has been consistently recognized as one of these fund's top performing partners. Marcos has leveraged these tremendous opportunities to create the largest platform for residential real estate acquisitions in Florida. Going forward, a part of Sovereign's strategic plan is to place a greater emphasis on principal investing in commercial deals across the U.S. for its internal funds and in partnership with top private equity partners. The Company will also continue to manage its lending platform that provides access to hundreds of millions in lending capacity for refinancing or acquisition loans of commercial and residential deals over short- and medium-term horizons.
Marcos previously worked for a top brokerage company in Miami, FL, where he was recognized as a top producer in South Florida and closed tens of millions of dollars in transactions during his time there. He founded Sovereign with the aim to help others make smart decisions in the increasingly complex real estate markets, and to capitalize for his clients and the firm on the incredible opportunities available through these transformational times of the U.S. real estate industry, a safe haven for investors globally.
Albert Diaz de Villegas has worked in the South Florida residential real estate markets for over fifteen years, compiling a stellar track record of deal execution and closings both on the brokerage and principal sides of the business. He is an expert in real estate sales and investments, with experience in brokering over a thousand units in the most recent distressed cycle while managing relationships with large, multi-million dollar institutional clients.
In the current growth cycle, Albert has sourced and acquired ~6,000 single family residences for multi-billion dollar funds, high net worth individuals, family offices and other institutional investors through both the South Florida distressed foreclosure auctions and standard MLS channels. Albert currently serves as the Head of the Residential Division at Sovereign and has served various multi-billion clients such as FirstKey Homes (a Cerberus-affiliate), Colony Starwood Homes, Colony American Homes, Progress Residential, National Home Rentals, and Transcendent / BuildUSBack Companies, working directly with Marcos in underwriting deals, advising on acquisitions and closing transactions of single family residences. Together with Marcos, Albert has been involved in the creation of the largest residential real estate acquisitions platform in South Florida. This process combined with the private equity funds Albert has managed over the last few years has allowed him to become one of the most knowledgeable and experienced leaders in the South Florida real estate markets. Additionally, Albert has developed a precise understanding of underwriting asset values across the entire State of Florida.
Albert has worked across all deal types at various stages of the real estate market cycle, and is an expert in traditional fee simple as well as foreclosure transactions. Albert also has a significant amount of experience in construction having participated as a principal with Marcos in identifying and executing on opportunities to buy, rehab and fix-&-flip over $20 million of single family homes over the past few years. Those funds have consistently performed very well returning investors over 30% annualized returns throughout the lives of those various initiatives.
Andrew brings over 18 years of institutional real estate investment, development and management experience to the Sovereign Team. Andrew has a demonstrated history of working at the highest levels in the real estate industry as a strong business development professional. He is skilled in sales, rentals, operations, management, development, finance, and private equity/venture capital. He has successfully built and scaled several real estate companies at the local and national level through application of his
expertise in building complex operations, enhancing corporate integration and efficiency, and optimizing systems management.
Andrew has participated on and directed teams that have completed several billion dollars of ground-up development across all asset classes including single family planned urban developments, high rise multi-family, office buildings, industrial parks, and marinas. Previously, Andrew was a Director at Waypoint Homes, where he completed the start-up of the South Florida operation and in connection therewith, hired over 50 employees, deployed more than $250MM in capital, and oversaw the then largest portfolio integration in the history of the Single Family Rental (“SFR”) space, resulting in 3,000 units and $350MM under management. Commencing in 2014, he also lead the Orlando office, resulting in $500MM in assets under management and an additional $50MM capital deployment. The South Florida/Orlando portfolio accounted for more than 35% of the publicly traded entity then known as Starwood Residential Trust (NYSE: SWAY), which has since merged with Colony Capital (NYSE: SFR), and later with Blackstone’s Invitation Homes (NYSE: INVH) to create the largest single-family REIT in the world.
Andrew is a graduate of the Baker Program in Real Estate at Cornell University (‘01) and Holds a BIS from Arizona State University in Urban Planning and Design and Business Management.
Robert Coalla began his career selling real estate in 1987. Early in his career, Robert excelled in training and sales positions for a number of Florida's premier real estate brokerages. One such experience was when he was involved in sales for single family home developments during the founding of Weston. During his 4 years as an on-site Sales Associate for ARVIDA Homes, Robert was among 26 salesmen that successfully transacted an average of 1,400 new construction homes per year.
Robert later owned and operated his own real estate company, where he managed, trained and was a mentor & coach to over 50 Sales Associate professionals. In 2002, he transferred back to general real estate sales and joined Keller Williams Realty (KWR) where he assembled a team that for 14 consecutive years ranked among the top 10 producers annually in all of Florida's KWR offices.
Robert has personally been involved in the sale of over 2,000 homes in his career, representing more than $1 Billion in sales to date, translating to being among the Top 0.5% of Realtors nationwide. Robert has joined forces with Sovereign Real Estate Group where his principal focus will be leading the sales and marketing of luxury homes in the South Florida markets while offering unparalleled service and representation to clients and customers.
Daniel Egipciaco has been practicing as a licensed real estate professional since 2005 and currently serves as a Managing Director of Sovereign Real Estate Group and Head of the firm's Construction Management division. Daniel is focused on managing every facet of construction and rehabs for the Company's existing private equity SFR aggregation and other platforms.
Daniel began his real estate career working with local investors, as well as leasing, sales, and management of properties in the South Florida residential and commercial real estate markets.
Daniel holds a Bachelor's degree in religious studies from Trinity International University and an MBA with a concentration in Leadership from Grand Canyon University.
William Figueroa began his journey into real estate in 2003 as a title processor for a top real estate attorney in South Florida. This venture allowed William to become a highly experienced real estate professional and afforded him multiple opportunities to hone his skills working in various sectors across multiple transactions within the real estate industry.
William solidified his understanding and appreciation for the real estate process, including sales and transactional financing. In the interim, William has also acquired a significant amount of experience in site selection, raising capital, construction planning, leasing, and property management.
William has participated in over two thousand real estate transactions from 2013-2018. He currently serves as a Senior Account Manager in Acquisitions & Dispositions for Sovereign Real Estate Group's institutional investor clients while simultaneously serving as team leader for the William Figueroa Real Estate Team.
Raul Pino began his real estate career in 2013 with Sovereign Real Estate Group. With a background in the information technology markets, Raul added value to the team from the start by utilizing his technical expertise to streamline the acquisitions of single family residences for the Colony American Homes brokerage initiative.
During this time, Raul had the opportunity to participate in thousands of real estate transactions in a short period of time, giving him an unparalleled exposure to the South Florida real estate markets. Raul has since become an expert in the industry from working on several investment initiatives consisting of sourcing, analyzing, and underwriting rental and fix/flip opportunities for high net worth family offices and institutional clients.
Raul currently serves as a Senior Account Manager in Acquisitions & Dispositions for Sovereign Real Estate Group covering the entire state of Florida.
